Abstract


This research purpose is to identify family’s role in stimulating preschool development. It’s a descriptive explorative research. Populalation used in this research are all family who have preschool children. The respondent is a mother who has preschool child in Jember, Bondowoso, and Situbondo regency. There are 26 respondents in this research, and they taken by probability sampling (simple random sampling). The data collected through structured interview and questionnaire using home inventory form “family and preschool child developmed by Bettye M. Caldwell and Robert H. Bradley”. The data collected from October 29th until Nopember 30th 2009. Descriptive analysis is used to analyse them. Familiy’s role category are based on this criteria : good if the respondent score 46-55 ; enough if the scored 30-45 and less if they scored 0-29. The result show that 6 respondents (23,07%) has a good role especially in academy stimulation, 16 responden (61,54%) has enough role and need to maximized in learning stimulation, and 4 respondent (15,93%) has less role in receiving stimulation. According to this result the family need to joint a parenting class to increase their knowledge and skill in stimulating preschool development.
