Abstrak


The study purposed to test empirically about the effect of peer tutoring method to learning motivation and student's academic achievement in mathematics of senior high school (SMA). Furthermore the study aimed to find out about the effect of learning motivation to academic achievement in mathematic. The subject of the study is students of ones’ state senior high school (SMA Negeri1) Sukosari-Bondowoso age within 14-18 years old. The total of sample this study is 75 sudents at two class, which they are 38 students at X-1 clas (they are control group) and 37 students at X-2 clas (they are experiment group). The subject of the study choosen by random sampling technique.

The device used in this study are scale and test type, which there are one type of scale learning motivation and one type of scale student’s respect to peer tutoring method, four types of academic achievement in mathematic test and one type of intelligence test (SPM). Statistic model to test hypothesis used in this study is t-test model, covariant analysis model, and regression analysis model. The result of this study showed that: a) there are effect of peer tutoring method to learning motivation which shown result of analysis independent samples t-test between control group and experiment group by t = -9,390 and p = 0,000 (p<0,05), b) there are effect of peer tutoring method to academic achievement in mathematic which shown result of analysis independent samples t-test between control group and experiment group by t = -18,419 and p = 0,000 (p<0,05), and by controlling intelligence showed, there are effect of peer tutoring method to academic achievement in mathematic which shown by F = 100,985 and p = 0,000 (p< 0,05) and p for intelligence = 0,02 (p < 0,05), c) there are effect of leraning motivation to students’ academic achievement in mathematic of state senior high school Sukosari- Bondowoso which shown by p = 0,001 (p < 0,005) and R Square = 0,137 (13,7%)
